Meebo/IM

Instant messaging is a way to send real time message to in the form of a personal chat room. It’s faster that email, and many instant messaging (IM) services allow you to send  photos, video, and other types of files.  IM is a communication tool that not neccesasarily new, but that is increasingly popular among business, student, and even libraries.Many libraries are using one form of IM or another to reach out and serve their communities, 24-7.

There are a lot of IM programs available. These include Yahoo Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, MSN, and  number of others. All of these require users to download software, create unique user, and be registered with the same service the people they want to communicate with use. An easier solution is to utilize a Web-based IM program such as Meebo. Meebo lets you access your IM account(s) from ANYWHERE, and even provides access to more than one IM accounts.
